Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in East Side Cakes! Please send an email to eastsidecakes [at] gmail [dot] com with a little bit about what you're looking for and when. I'll get back to you as soon as I can with my availability.

Are your cakes and cupcakes vegan / plant-based / dairy-free?

Yes! All cakes and cupcakes are entirely vegan, meaning there are no dairy products, eggs, or honey in my recipes. Though, if you ask my family members who aren't vegan, everyone finds them delicious regardless.

Can you deliver my order?

I cannot offer delivery at this time due to being a small operation. All orders will be pick-up only, with the specific address shared after your order is confirmed.

That said, if you need delivery because of an accessibility barrier, please let me know!

How should I transport my cake/cupcakes?

Cakes are packaged in a box and lightly taped down, so keeping them on a flat floor surface in your vehicle is usually best. Cupcakes are held in inserts and won't slide around too much either, but a flat surface is best for them, too. The floor space in front of your passenger seat is great, since the air conditioning in your vehicle will probably keep them cool for the ride!

If you are planning on driving a longer distance, cakes can be kept frozen for transport.

To thaw cakes from frozen:

  • Move your cake to the fridge the night before you want to serve it

  • An hour or two before you plan to serve the cake, move it to your counter at room temperature

To thaw cupcakes from frozen:

  • Place the cupcakes in the fridge for about 30 minutes

  • After 30 minutes, move them to your counter at room temperature for another half-hour to an hour

  • If you don't have room in your fridge, you can thaw them directly at room temperature as well. This will take about an hour.

What if I want more than one flavor of cupcakes?

I am an independent home baker and bake every batch of cupcakes from scratch as they are ordered, so I can't make mixed-flavor dozens right now. You are welcome to order more than a dozen cupcakes to get more than one flavor - they freeze really well for a snack for later!
